ST ALDHELMS ‘B’        2

FRY CLUB COLTS        1

Our return to Creswicke Road for the second successive week coincided with wet and thundery weather but also the opening of their new changing room facilities thankfully. Having already beaten them in the cup, we were confident of another victory.

Our squad was at full strength and the first 20 mins was played very much in their half with 2 very good chances just going wide. Our defence and Midfield very much dominated their attack although St Aldhelms had 2 close chances from corners. On a big pitch we were able to move the ball into wide positions where Dean Lapham and Nathan Dawson provided useful outlets for Mo Bouaziz and Kyle Curtis from Midfield. On 25 mins though St Aldhelms had a further corner which we failed to clear and the ball rebounded off the unfortunate Kyle Curtis into our net to put the home team 1-0 up. Despite making three changes to force a goal back, we went into half time undeservedly 1-0 down.

The second half was to prove just as frustrating. On 2 minutes a misplaced pass from our defence gave St Aldhelms a second chance on our goal which they took to go 2-0 up. This forced us to chase the game and Brad Monelle took up the challenge with 2 great strikes which the keeper just saved.  However, this also left us vulnerable in defence but James Hurrell Smith kept the attack away from our keeper Craig Francis for most of the half. Finally we got a goal from another good strike from Brad Monelle but it was just too late as the final whistle went very soon after.

A very disappointing performance considering our strength and position. We can play much better and this will have to be a challenge to our players to prove this next match.

Todays Man of the Match was awarded to James Hurrell Smith for his great defending under pressure.
